The hours that the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center is open may vary according to holiday and seasonal schedules.
Here are alternative places to go during times when the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center and or Ferry Point Park is closed. Please be advised that all properties are close from sunset to sunrise, unless a sanctiones special event is scheduled.
Where else can we go that is similar to Ferry Point.
We recommend the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center for Birding, walking trails and kayaking. It's in Grasonville and less than a 10 minute drive from here. Check in advance for hours.
You may also head west on 301/50 and take the Stevensville Exit to Terrapin Park. There are several miles of trails at this Park and also a sandy beach area that overlooks the Chesapeake Bay and Bay Bridge. This is a great place to catch beautiful sunsets. Parking is free.
Another option is Matapeake State Park which sits on the Chesapeake Bay on the southwest side of Kent Island. There is a dog park and swimming beach here. Parking is free.
Finally, if you want to fish from a dock, take the last exit before crossing the Bay Bridge toward Romancoke. The Romancoke Fishing Pier and Kayak Ramp is an option. Hourly parking is available. It is open 24 hours. You must have a license to fish from this pier. You may pick one up at Chesapeake Outdoors or at one of the other places listed on the Public Landing webpage.
