Springtime 2021 in the Kent Narrows brings new businesses, new buildings and exciting new events.

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

It's getting warmer and Kent Narrows is open for business! Visitors to our waterfront will notice many changes this year. The construction of a new hotel on the waterfront is underway. A new 120 room Hyatt Place is slated to open in Spring of 2022. It's located in-between the Narrows restaurant and the Crab Deck with a connecting boardwalk on the water's edge. Once complete, all rooms will have spectacular water views. The hotel will feature a 5,000 square foot conference center, bar, indoor pool, modern fitness center and a 44 slip marina with direct access to the waterfront village deck, piers and docks.

Also under construction, is phase two of the Kent Narrows Boatel. The Boatel offers indoor boat storage and a hassle free boating experience. A state of the art reservation system allows boaters to arrange to have their boat placed in the water and ready to leave from a floating dock at the appointed time.

The Kent Narrows Boatel also offers a concierge service so boaters may have their vessel provisioned, and stocked with drinks and snacks. A General Store is on site and is open to the public. It provides basics like ice, drinks, beer, and snacks. A marine section of the store offers boating and fishing needs. And yes, they sell bait!

The side of the Boatel that faces the Kent Narrows waterfront will include retail shops and office space. A new waterfront restaurant is planned for the site as well.

Several businesses have moved to Kent Narrows this year. The newest being Marine Max which is located in the two story building at Safe Harbor Marina. Marine Max is the area's authorized Aviara, Azmut, Galeon Yachts, Cruisers Yachts, Ocean Alexander, Aquila, and Scout boats dealership. The new facility has a beautiful in water travel lift, indoor shop space, outdoor showroom, a large roomy office space and a customer lounge with marina amenities. Boat parts, repair and service are available.

Businesses located in Fisherman's Boathouse include, ISA Architectural, Off the Hook, Boat Sales and Service, Azure Funding, a branch of Off the Hook, Rudy Marine a new and used boat dealer, and Ocean Club Yacht Sales which offers new and brokerage boats and yachts for sale.

Exciting events are also slated for this Spring. The Bay Bridge Boat Show (Sail & Power Boat) is on at the Bay Bridge Marina for April 15-18. For tickets go to annapolisboatshows.com.

On June 5th and 6th the Kent Island Yacht Club will host the Chesapeake Bay Motoring Festival on June 5th and 6th. Here participants will see an eclectic grouping of Motorcars enhanced by Classic Yachts and Antique Speed Boats.

Finally, looking ahead to July. The Fireworks are on for Sunday July 4th. They will be launched from Ferry Point Park. Expect to see them soon after dusk, around 9:15 p.m.

The Kent Narrows Boatel is adding on the second half of the building this Spring. Construction is now underway.
