The Queen Anne’s County Annual Independence Day Celebration is

scheduled for July 1, 2026.

The main event overlooks the Kent Narrows Waterway and takes place in the parking lot and the lawn area in front of the Chesapeake Heritage and Visitors Center. 

 

Fireworks will be launched from Ferry Point Park which is on the north end of the Kent Narrows Waterfront Area. Fireworks are visible from most places on the Waterfront. (Park is closed before, after and during the event).

When: Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with a rain date of Thursday, July 2, 2026.

 

Times:  Parking Area Opens at 5:30 pm, Event Area Opens at 6:00 p.m.

Fireworks at 9:15 p.m. 

 

Food: Food Trucks will serve: Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Shaved Ice, Pizza, Funnel Cakes, Korean BBQ, Coffee, Kettle Corn and Italian Ice. 

 

Entertainment: Southland

Kids Activities: Bounce House, Face Painting, Photo Booth and Balloon Twisting!

Parking/ Event Locations: Free parking adjacent to the event site at the Kent Narrows Center (old outlets) 59 Piney Narrows Road in Chester at starting at 5:30pm *handicap parking is available.

​

Satellite Parking with free shuttles: Parking with shuttle bus service will be available from both Grasonville Elementary School and Kent Island High School in Stevensville. Lots open at 5:30. Service to the event site begins at 5:45 and will run continuously until 8:15. The last shuttle to the event from the satellite lots will leave at 8:15.

Following the Fireworks display , all shuttle busses will remain at the Outlet Lot and provide return service to both school locations.

Road, Parking Lot, Building Closures and Park Closures:

​

Chesapeake Heritage and Visitor Center Parking Lot will be closed all from Sunset June 30, to Sunrise July 2 to allow for the set-up of the Independence Day Celebration.

​

Piney Narrows Road will be blocked just past the old outlets by 5:00 p.m. and between Swan Cove Lane and the east end of Piney Narrows Road at 4 p.m. on July 1. Residents of Piney Narrows Road and Swan Cove Lane and their guests will be allowed through.

 

Ferry Point Park will be closed from Sunset June 30-Noon July 2. 

 

Residents and guests from Piney Narrows Marina may enter through the South Gate (gate closest to the bridge) after 4.p.m.

What if it rains and/or the July 1st event is cancelled?

Only the Fireworks will be held on the rain date of July 2, the family fun event will be canceled. No shuttle service from the schools will be available. (Please be advised that as of June 30 there will be a heat advisory throughout the day and evening)

What else is happening around the area? 

The Town of Centreville's fireworks celebration will take place on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

 

The event will feature food, entertainment, and family-friendly activities, culminating with the fireworks display at 9:00 p.m. The event is at Queen Anne's County High School at 125 Ruthsburg Road. Centerville, MD.

Godfrey's Farm in Sudlersville (northern Queen Anne's County) will hold a Concert from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 4, 2026.

​

The 10th annual reading of the Constitution will be read on Saturday at 8 a.m. on July 4th 2026 at the Centerville Courthouse. (weather permitting)

Please be advised that the other activities planned for the Courthouse that day are cancelled due to the predicted extreme heat watch (potentially 105-115). The other activities planned for the Courthouse Green will be rescheduled for the Fall.
