Wells Cove Public Landing
Many who visit Kent Narrows are familiar with the scenic Wells Cove Public Landing. It's located between the Jetty Restaurant and Dock Bar and Bridges Restaurant.
The 2.0 - acre facility allows patrons to enjoy a waterside promenade along the Eastern Bay and the entryway into the Kent Island Narrows.
Charter and head boats use the waterfront pier as a boarding area for fishing excursions. The pier has been expanded and refined to allow shoreline/pier fishing for those who have state required licenses.
The landing has a new addition! The Veterans Point Memorial was recently dedicated and welcomes boaters and pedestrians to the Kent Narrows Waterway.
The memorial is dedicated to the men and women who served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
Veterans Point was designed to be a place of reflection and welcomes families to use the space as a way to honor legacies and carry the spirit of endurance as it continues to inspire future generations. It serves as a sanctuary where memories can be honored.
The flag pole memorial was designed in by Chester River Landscaping. The funding for it was provided by the W. Earl and Barbara Griffin Foundation.
Earl Griffin was a World War II Veteran, USN Atlantic Theatre. He was also the Maryland State VFW Commander from 1954-55. The memorial sits on land owned by Queen Anne’s County.
The area around the memorial is maintained through the Department of Parks and Recreation. The American Flag is maintained by the Queen Anne’s Veterans and Military Support Alliance (VAMSA) Center which is located in Stevensville, MD.
The official dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial at Wells Cove was held on 11/11/24 from 11-12. Click here to watch the dedication ceremony.
